Hoyer’s Supply Chain Solutions (SCS) division has taken over the loading and unloading of chemicals and liquid gases for Dow Olefinverbund at the latter’s Böhlen site in Saxony (Germany).

Dow Olefinverbund is part of chemicals giant Dow Chemical Company, one of the world’s biggest makers of special chemicals, high-performance materials and plastics. In Germany, Dow employs more than 5,000 at 17 sites. Hoyer will be responsible for the handling of up to 1.2 million tonnes of chemicals and liquid gases a year at the site. The five-year contract covers the filling and emptying of rail tank wagons with Dow products and the cleaning and the manoeuvring of transport containers.

Hoyer already works at the Böhlen site loading trucks and rail tank wagons for another product group. The two companies are now continuing their co-operation with railed goods traffic.

“I am delighted that we have been entrusted with another important task for Dow,” said Selcuk Cingi, Hoyer’s team leader at project management SCS. “The successful tender is a significant milestone for us in our bid to establish ourselves further as a full-service provider in the chemicals industry.”
