Suttons Tankers to end sugar contract

UK Road Tankers specialist Suttons Tankers has announced its decision to end an eight-year relationship with British Sugar in order to concentrate on the hazardous chemicals, gases and fuels sectors.

Suttons will not be seeking to renew its current contract for the supply of bulk sugar products with British Sugar Plc when the current contract expires later this year. The announcement follows a review of Suttons’ UK activities and reflects the company’s desire to focus on its core business.

Suttons acquired Imperial Tankers in September 2014, a move that increased the company’s ADR network fleet to in excess of 700 road tankers.

Michael Cundy, Suttons Tankers Managing Director, said: “We have valued the relationship with British Sugar over the last eight years, it nevertheless serves in the best interests of the company to have a clear focus on developing our core activities in the hazardous chemicals, gases and fuels sectors. We have agreed to continue beyond the end of the contract to ensure British Sugar have time to find a suitable replacement.’’
