“With this new build program, we’re reacting to the current market situation and simultaneously prepare for the future,” explains Heike Clausen, Managing Director of VTG Tanktainer GmbH. To satisfy the various technical requirements of each customer quickly and flexibly, the company is producing tank containers which conform to high-quality unit specifications. VTG Tanktainer says it will be in a position to satisfy the expected market, customer and safety requirements in the coming years.
About 1,000 standard T11 20’ tank containers were built by Chinese company Singamas, for use in Asia, where market demand remains very high and the outlook remains positive. VTG has also commissioned the construction of high-quality tank containers in South Africa and Belgium which, for example, are fitted with integrated surge plates or electric heating and which would also allow the transportation of hydrogen peroxide.
Altogether, VTG has invested approx. EUR 18 million in the new-build programme “Our customers are not the only ones who expect state-of-the-art equipment” explains Clausen, referring to the new build program. “We have of course made it our mission to transport highly sensitive goods of this sort in the safest way possible. That’s where our competence lies.”
In the financial year 2015, VTG generated revenue of EUR 1,027.5million and operating profit (EBITDA) of EUR 336.5million. Via its subsidiaries and affiliates the company, which has its head office in Hamburg, is mainly present in Europe, North America, Russia and Asia. As at 31 December 2015, VTG had 1,445 employees worldwide in consolidated companies.
