New Logistics head for Port of Rotterdam

From 1st September 2016, Matthijs van Doorn has taken over as Logistics Manager for the Port of Rotterdam Authority. He replaces Wouter van Dijk, who has accepted a position at ProRail.

Van Doorn joined the Port Authority team over a year ago as Business Manager Forwarding, having previously fulfilled a number of positions at TNT (Express). The Port Authority sees him as sharing its vision to develop Rotterdam into Europe’s foremost logistics hub.

The Port of Rotterdam Authority’s Logistics department focuses on the continuous improvement of Rotterdam’s connections with the hinterland and consults closely with the private sector regarding developments in the inland shipping, rail, road transport, freight forwarding and shipping sectors. It works with these private parties to increase the port of Rotterdam’s appeal as a hub for handling and shipping cargo and as such is integral to the port’s commercial ambitions in the dry bulk, liquid bulk, containers and breakbulk logistics chains.
