Wascosa signs landmark wagon leasing contract in the UK

Wascosa, based in Lucerne, Switzerland, is delighted to announce that it has secured a major wagon leasing contract with UK railway network owner and infrastructure manager, Network Rail. Under the terms of the contract, Wascosa will provide a total of 570 wagons, to be built by Greenbrier Europe and which will be maintained as part of the 10-year deal in partnership with leading UK train operator GB Railfreight.

“For GB Railfreight, being able to bring the industry together to offer an efficient flexible wagon solution to Network Rail is crucial to be able to deal with supply chain demands for the future. Equally as important is modernisation of infrastructure wagons that will last for many years. GB Railfreight are delighted to have partnered with Wascosa to be able to offer innovative superstructures and efficient wagon maintenance to Network Rail that achieves both modernisation and future wagon supply chain demands.”

Just recently Wascosa delivered new flex freight wagons to be used with various superstructures for rail-based construction site logistics, to Sersa Switzerland, part of the Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group, and which itself is one of the leading companies in the railway infrastructure construction and maintenance business in Europe.
