Two years ago, the leasing company reported that the versatile gas railcar was a favourite among customers. At that point it had more than 500 Zags in its fleet, leased to more than 20 customers. The 1,000th Zags, also the 5,000th gas railcar, left GATX’s in-house workshop in Ostróda (WSO -Wagon Service Ostróda), for client Dow Europe GmbH, in Germany.
Elisabeth Jilli, head of sales & service, said: “With our 1,000th multi-purpose champion gas railcar, we have doubled our 119cbm railcar fleet in a little over two years and are ready to meet the demand for it.”
