Abbey extends contract with British Sugar

Abbey Logistics Group has extended its strategic partnership with British Sugar for another three years.

Over the years, the team at Abbey has built a strong reputation for providing high-quality logistics services, prioritising safety and legal compliance.

Recognised by British Sugar as the lead logistics partner for bulk sugar distribution, Abbey Logistics Group has consistently achieved over 99% on-time delivery performance for the last two years.

As part of this extended partnership, Abbey is introducing 23 new DAF tractor units into its fleet for British Sugar. Additionally, ALG is expanding its capabilities by adding alternative specification tankers and conducting extensive trials with alternative fuel vehicles and product discharge systems.

With a £3.3 million (€3.8 million) investment, this fleet enhancement reaffirms Abbey’s commitment to its partnership with British Sugar and aligns with an agreed fleet replacement policy.

The introduction of these new units, coupled with ongoing fleet investments, will significantly reduce the average fleet age to less than 2.5 years, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Matthew Parsons, general manager for British Sugar, commented: “We are very proud to have Abbey Logistics Group as our chosen logistics partner for bulk sugar distribution. We look forward to continuing to work together to enhance the service offerings for British Sugar’s customers over the coming years.”
