Schütz starts production in India

Schütz has started production of PE tight-head plastics drums at its new facility in Dahej, Gujarat, India.

The facility is located in the Special Economic Zone in Gujarat and is the company’s first production site in the country.

“Our customers in the region are benefiting in many ways from our investment, which in the first phase has a volume of over €30m,” the company said in a statement.

““The local production of packaging solutions will significantly reduce transport distances and delivery times; previously we supplied Indian customers from Malaysia. It will also reduce CO₂ emissions and further increase delivery reliability and flexibility.

We are also pleased that the expansion of the sales organisation will further strengthen customer proximity and personal contact.”

Production will include its standard F1 plastics drum, as well as a new F2 model, designed for the Indian market, which has an additional grip ring at the bottom to facilitate manual handling.

Schütz also aims to expand production to include its established MX series of IBCs.
