AD Fuels onboards IVECO S-WAY 490 tractor units

AD Fuels, a leading liquid and compressed natural gas haulier, has onboarded a pair of IVECO S-Way 490 trucks to join its expanding fleet.

Providing the perfect balance of performance and economy, the new IVECO S-Way 490s are powered by Cursor 13 engines producing 490hp and 2,400Nm of torque. These 6×2 trucks supply capability when running at up to 44 tonnes while delivering fuel economy.

Driver comfort was a consideration for AD Fuels’ new trucks. Drivers can enjoy cab space, storage, creature comforts such as a fridge-freezer and microwave and IVECO’s night-time safety lock. Each IVECO S-Way also features red seatbelts.

These trucks also visit local schools, with AD Fuels teaching pupils about the environment and the benefits of natural gas. It also runs a competition to name new trucks with children coming up with creations such as Greta Truckberg and Ozone Ollie.

Transporting fuel nationwide seven days a week provides a virtual gas pipeline for industrial, transportation, and marine use, the new IVECO S-Way vehicles join an existing IVECO S-Way 530 vehicle and two other older IVECO trucks.

Future fleet plans include the introduction of CNG vehicles to create a circular economy and take advantage of a special tanker that can also fuel its tractor unit on longer routes.

The new 500hp IVECO S-Way Natural Gas is also under consideration, a truck capable of reducing CO2 emissions by up to 95% versus an equivalent diesel model.

Jon Mayes, AD Fuels Managing Director, said “The IVECO S-Way is a very handsome truck. Better than just looking good, it is smooth to drive and heavily driver-focused. Reliability is critical in the fuel supply business and that’s one of the big reasons we have added more IVECOs to our fleet. Iain Robinson and his team at the Walton Summit dealer work hard and have fostered a good relationship with us.”

Mike Cutts Business Line Director Full Range UK & ROI said: “It’s great to see the IVECO S-Way 490 providing brilliant real-world economy without compromising mission capability. Reliable virtual natural gas pipelines are essential to the transport industry lowering CO2 emissions.”
