TALKE tests electric Mercedes-Benz tractor unit
TALKE has partnered with Evonik Industries and Daimler Truck to test the all-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 tractor unit.
The trial run took place on the route between Wesseling and the container depot in Hürth, where around 800 transports are carried out annually.
The objective of the test run was to gather insights into range, charging times, and operational processes.
Christian Hartmann, manager sales & business development at TALKE, said: “The path to zero-emission logistics presents challenges, but TALKE is fully committed to testing innovative solutions early on and further developing them in collaboration with our customers.”
Technical features of the eActros 600 The Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 is equipped with a high-capacity battery exceeding 600 kWh, allowing a range of 500 kilometers without recharging.
The trial was accompanied by TALKE driver Czeslaw Wieczorek and driver trainer Ralf Gregor from Verkehrsinstitut Bayern.
“I didn’t have to adapt much since the cab is identical to that of the regular Actros. But what’s really noticeable is the quieter ride and the absence of engine vibrations. I particularly like the direct torque when starting—it makes driving even more enjoyable. Overall, it’s a great vehicle and I’m proud to have had the chance to test it,” said Wieczorek.
TALKE will continue to work closely with partners such as Evonik and Daimler Truck AG to develop sustainable transport solutions.
