Leschaco appoints Global Head of Tank Container Operations

Houston-based executive to lead global strategy for tank container logistics

The Leschaco Group has confirmed the appointment of Michael Kopecky as its new Global Head of Tank Container, effective 1 July 2025. Currently serving as Head of the Tank Container Competence Centre (TCCC) for the Americas, Kopecky will assume the global role while continuing to be based in Houston and retain his existing responsibilities in the interim.

Kopecky joined Leschaco in January 2024 as Deputy General Manager of TCCC Americas and has since overseen the group’s tank container activities across the region. Under his leadership, the Americas team has delivered notable progress, strengthening the unit’s operational capabilities and reinforcing its strategic position in the market.

With more than a decade of experience in the tank container segment, Kopecky brings substantial expertise to the global role. Prior to joining Leschaco, he held various senior positions at the Hoyer Group, most recently serving as Director of Projects and Financial & Executive Officer. His logistics career began in 2005 at APM Terminals in Houston. He holds a BSc in Maritime Administration from Texas A&M University.

In his new role, Kopecky will oversee Leschaco’s global tank container operations, a key business area for the group. He is expected to focus on advancing the division’s global strategy, improving operational efficiency, and driving continued growth in line with the company’s sustainability objectives.

Chief Executive Officer Constantin Conrad welcomed the appointment, commenting: “We are pleased to see Michael join our senior management team. His industry knowledge, international perspective and collaborative approach make him well suited to lead our tank container business on a global level. We are confident he will play a vital role in realising our strategic goals and strengthening our position in the bulk logistics market.”

Kopecky described his new role as a welcome challenge. “I am honoured to take on the global responsibility for Leschaco’s tank container business,” he said. “The sector presents enormous potential, and I look forward to working closely with colleagues around the world to deliver value to our customers and continue driving innovation in this dynamic field.”

Leschaco provides integrated logistics services across sea and air freight, contract logistics, and tank container transport, with a strong focus on dangerous goods and chemical logistics. The company operates in over 24 countries and employs around 4,000 staff. Founded in Hamburg in 1879 and now headquartered in Bremen, Leschaco remains family-owned and reported an annual gross revenue of approximately €1 billion.
