BMF Port Burgas joins ICHCA to strengthen global safety standards

BMF Port Burgas, the Bulgarian port operator at the Black Sea Port of Burgas, has become a member of International Association of Cargo Handling Interests (ICHCA), reinforcing its commitment to world-class safety and operational excellence across its containerised, bulk, liquid and general cargo terminals.

The partnership unites two organisations with shared goals: safeguarding workers while maintaining productivity across the cargo handling chain.

With more than 70 years’ experience, ICHCA brings together a global network of technical experts dedicated to developing and sharing best practice across the industry.

Chief Legal Advisor Ms Vesela Dzhundzhurova said the decision reflects BMF Port Burgas’s relentless pursuit of safety excellence. “As port operations evolve, we invest continually to provide reliable and safe services for our clients.

“ICHCA provides a focal point for informing, educating, lobbying and networking to improve knowledge and best practice across the cargo handling chain. Membership is therefore a logical step.”

ICHCA CEO Richard Steele welcomed the new member, noting BMF Port Burgas’s commitment to improving safety and contributing to best practice across the international maritime supply chain.

Membership provides access to ICHCA’s extensive Technical Library, global networking opportunities and influential advocacy with bodies such as International Maritime Organization and UN Economic Commission for Europe, supporting safer standards today and in the future.
