The awards ceremony, held on 26 February at the London Marriott Hotel Grosvenor Square, brought together more than 400 association professionals in what was the largest TAF Awards event to date, celebrating excellence across the UK trade association community.
This latest accolade builds on the CBA’s impressive track record at the TAF Awards, with multiple previous wins including Outstanding Leadership, Skills Development, Sector Representation and Membership Engagement.
The Diversity & Inclusion Award was presented in recognition of the CBA’s pioneering Generation STEAM initiative, which challenges traditional perceptions of careers in the chemical sector.
The judging panel commented: “The initiative sends a clear signal that the chemical sector is open and inclusive. We particularly welcomed the STEAM ambassador model and the strong delivery behind the programme.”
Generation STEAM is a first-of-its-kind initiative for the UK chemical supply chain. By adding an ‘A’ to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), it reflects the blend of skills required in modern careers. The ‘A’ represents Arts, Ability, Ambition and more, highlighting the importance of creativity, communication, teamwork and problem-solving alongside technical expertise.
Tim Doggett, CEO of the CBA and founder of Generation STEAM, said: “We firmly believe our sector is a place for everyone, regardless of their background, ability or interests. For too long, the chemical industry has been viewed through a narrow STEM lens, which risks limiting both diversity and opportunity. Generation STEAM was created to challenge that perception. It broadens the conversation to reflect the full spectrum of skills the modern chemical supply chain demands.
“This award recognises not only the programme itself, but also the dedication of our ambassadors who are helping to redefine what inclusion means for our sector. Diversity and inclusion are not buzzwords for us. They are fundamental to building a resilient, future-ready workforce. We are incredibly proud that Generation STEAM is making a measurable difference and sending a clear message that our industry is open, inclusive and full of opportunity.”
The TAF Awards are the UK’s premier celebration of trade association excellence, recognising organisations that demonstrate strong governance, member value, innovation and sector leadership.
