
The Volvo FH Electric will support container-shunting operations at QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam, serving Ocean Network Express (ONE) and other customers. The deployment builds on an established HVO100 biofuel scheme that DM Transport, ONE and QTKR have operated for over a year.
The e-truck produces zero tailpipe emissions and operates with a quieter electric driveline, reducing noise for drivers and port workers. DM Transport will use the deployment to gather practical experience on battery-electric heavy transport in demanding port conditions—including range, charging schedules and performance under load.
Rather than replacing the HVO100 programme, the electric truck represents a complementary strategy. By combining established lower-carbon fuel with emerging battery-electric technology, the three companies are developing a scalable approach to emissions reduction from port-shunting operations.

QTerminals Kramer Rotterdam will facilitate the truck’s operation and assess how electric vehicles integrate into active port environments. The initiative demonstrates how port operators, transport providers and shipping lines can collaborate on emissions reduction across the container supply chain.
