A FIBC – or tote bag, as it is more commonly called – is a thick woven polyethylene or polypropylene bag that is manufactured in large dimensions for the storage and transportation of goods in bulk quantities. RONCO UN approved FIBC bags are made in accordance with the United Nations Recommendations on the Transportation of Dangerous Materials (more commonly known as the Orange Book) for road, railway and marine transportation. These controlled specification bags are stringently tested to the highest standards for guaranteed safe containment of hazardous solid materials.
They offer safe and efficient transportation of explosive or flammable solids, toxic, corrosive, harmful or irritant substances, oxidizing substances or organic peroxides as well as some hazardous waste. Unlike FIBC used in the packaging of non-dangerous goods, UN approved FIBC is strictly regulated and monitored through all phases of the supply chain.
“RONCO has offered FIBC to our customers for many years now,” explained RONCO President, Ron Pecchioli. “Offering this UN approved product is in line with our commitment to global standardization and excellence. RONCO has obtained ISO certifications for our manufacturing processes. This regulated FIBC solution demonstrates our mission, as safety specialists, to develop consistent quality product that prevents personal injury or harm to the environment.”
Because post-consumer recycled material is prohibited from use in the manufacture of UN certified totes, RONCO totes are 100% new material, and are resistant to aging and degradation under normal conditions. Each bag undergoes rigorous testing for strength and durability in relation to its capacity and intended use.
RONCO UN approved FIBC is available in styles that may or may not include liners or coatings, that ensure easy handling, filling, and dispensing. Dependent on size, these totes can hold approximately 2000-3500 lbs of material. They can be branded to order, and include a printed UN classification code and markings, as well as a corresponding dangerous goods symbol.
RONCO manufacturing processes follow strict quality assurance protocols and are audited and certified by independent laboratories to ensure compliance with UN certification standards.
Since not all UN approved FIBC is suitable for all applications, RONCO Safety Advisors are qualified to assess the dangerous goods to be handled in order to assist their customers in choosing the safest and most efficient method of containment.
