Brenntag disputes French Competition ruling
Brenntag SA, a French subsidiary of Brenntag AG which represented about 4 percent of the Group’s sales in 2012, has been informed by the French Competition Authority (FCA) of the fine of €48 million imposed on Brenntag SA jointly with a further party regarding infringements to competition law, from 1998 to 2005 in France.
Brenntag SA says it does not agree with the legal qualification of the facts and the calculation of the fine of the FCA and will consider an appeal. Brenntag France applied for leniency in 2006 and has actively contributed to the investigation and provided all information and proofs working closely together with the FCA regarding the clarification of the facts.
Brenntag Group says it is committed to free competition and does not tolerate any infringements of antitrust law. The group regularly conducts substantial training programmes and has comprehensive policies in place in order to strengthen this commitment, a spokesman added.
