SCHÜTZ expands North American operations with new Wisconsin facility

SCHÜTZ, a leader in industrial packaging, has announced the opening of a new state-of-the-art production facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin in the US, marking a significant step in its ongoing expansion strategy across North America.

Strategically positioned between the economic hubs of Chicago and Milwaukee, the new plant spans over 370,000 square feet and will produce Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs) and plastic drums, reinforcing SCHÜTZ’s commitment to serving its customers in the Midwest with enhanced efficiency and sustainability.

Located just off Interstate I-94 and US Highway 41, the Kenosha site offers logistical advantages and access to a highly skilled workforce. Designed with scalability in mind, the facility also has potential for future growth.

A key feature of the plant is its in-house developed, fully autonomous production system for IBCs and drums. This system ensures consistent high quality through rigorous process controls. The facility’s output will be fully compatible with SCHÜTZ’s global standards, providing customers with reliable, sustainable packaging solutions.

This latest development brings the company’s total number of North American locations to 16, with recent expansions in Ohio, Missouri, Indiana, and Belleville (Canada) also supporting its broader network.

In line with its Green Lifecycle Management initiative, SCHÜTZ is set to introduce a modern reconditioning facility at the Kenosha site in autumn 2025. This will allow the company to refurbish used packaging, supporting a circular economy and further reducing environmental impact through shortened transport routes and reduced emissions.

“By investing in modern technologies and sustainable processes, we’re ensuring we can deliver superior solutions to customers around the world,” the company said in a statement. “Kenosha exemplifies our philosophy of combining proximity, security of supply, and sustainability.”
