Schenk Tanktransport acquires German specialist to strengthen DACH presence

Schenk Tanktransport has acquired Franz Fischer Spedition GmbH, a family-owned German tank transport specialist, in a move that significantly expands the Dutch company’s footprint in the DACH region.

Following the deal, Schenk will generate turnover of approximately €500m and employ more than 2,900 people. The combined fleet will comprise over 1,500 trucks, 1,750 owned trailers and 1,000 tank containers.

Founded more than 75 years ago, Franz Fischer Spedition specialises in the transport of liquid and dry bulk chemicals across continental Europe and the UK, serving customers in the chemical sector. The company will retain its current management team, with managing director Franz Fischer continuing in his role.

Marcel Claassen, chief executive of Schenk Tanktransport, said the acquisition strengthens the company’s position in chemical road transport in the DACH region and creates a platform for sustainable growth and innovation across Europe and the UK.

Franz Fischer said joining the Schenk Group represented an important next chapter for the business, adding that the partnership provides continuity for employees and customers while opening new opportunities for growth.

Schenk describes itself as one of North-West Europe’s leading tank transport companies. The acquisition aligns with its strategy to grow in core markets and specialised product segments.
