Avenir LNG completes first bio‑LNG loading from Klaipėda Terminal
Avenir LNG has revealed a major milestone in its ongoing expansion of LNG and bio‑LNG supply capabilities, following the successful completion of its first Bio‑LNG loading from the Klaipėda LNG Terminal in Lithuania.
This achievement, delivered in partnership with Anew Climate, strengthens Avenir LNG’s commitment to developing reliable, low‑carbon fuel pathways for the maritime and industrial sectors.
The operation saw certified, waste‑based Bio‑LNG supplied by Anew Climate loaded onto an Avenir vessel at the Klaipėda terminal, operated by KN Energies.
The fuel was subsequently transported to Sweden for use by Destination Gotland’s ferry fleet, supporting the decarbonisation of passenger marine transport. This marks Anew Climate’s first Bio‑LNG bunkering project in Europe and builds on Avenir LNG’s growing role in establishing global Bio‑LNG supply chains.
Avenir deployed the Avenir Ascension, a 7,500 cbm LNG bunker and supply vessel that performs more than 200 operations annually across Northwest Europe. Fully compatible with existing LNG infrastructure, the Bio‑LNG delivered meets FuelEU Maritime and RED III requirements, offering shipowners a practical, drop‑in solution for reducing lifecycle emissions without vessel modifications.
