CargoBeamer increases Calais–Perpignan frequency

Semi-trailer piggyback provider CargoBeamer has increased the frequency of its Calais–Perpignan service from four to six weekly roundtrips.

The expansion has been implemented in two steps: a fifth roundtrip was added in April 2026, with a sixth to follow in June this year. With the addition of the sixth departure, the service will offer daily departures in both directions from Monday to Saturday, making it one of the key intermodal offerings for semi-trailers on the north–south corridor within France.

Since December 2025, the route has been operated together with Lineas as the traction partner.

The service operates between the CargoBeamer-Terminal in Calais and the Perpignan Saint Charles Conteneur Terminal, with a transit time of approximately 28 hours.

The connection is open to craneable and non-craneable semi-trailers, refrigerated trailers, ADR and tank units, and containers. Per transported unit, the service reduces CO2 emissions by around 93 percent, equivalent to more than 1,100kg of CO2 compared with diesel road transport.

The frequency increase on Calais–Perpignan reflects a growing interest in intermodal transport of semi-trailers between the north and south of France.

From Calais, road freight companies can extend their journey to the UK via the Eurotunnel and several maritime connections, or by road to northern France and Belgium. On the southern end, the proximity of the Perpignan terminal to the Spanish border enables CargoBeamer to serve customers with flows to and from the Greater Barcelona region.
