Weber marked her first day by meeting employees at the Chiasso headquarters before visiting the Busto Arsizio terminal – the company’s most important hub for transalpine north–south transport. “Here, 220 people ensure that 350,000 road consignments are shifted to rail each year,” she said. “This makes a significant contribution to modal shift.” Weber aims to restore momentum in rail freight, which has lost market share in recent years, and strengthen long‑term modal shift across Europe.
Chairman Hans‑Jörg Bertschi welcomed Weber’s arrival, highlighting her international experience in customer logistics, innovation and digitalisation. “She has what it takes to continue our company’s success story,” he said.
In her first weeks, Weber will focus on customer engagement and terminal development. She emphasised the strategic importance of Hupac’s expanding terminal network, including the new Milano Smistamento site currently under construction. “Stable networks and transport chains are invaluable in today’s logistics sector,” she noted, adding that the new terminal will enhance resilience and flexibility for customers.
Weber previously served as Vice-President of UPS Healthcare for Europe and Asia. She is 42, married, and lives in Ticino.
