AELER, TOUAX in joint Unit One push
Container developer AELER is entering a collaboration with container leasing company TOUAX to scale up the commercial deployment of AELER’s Unit One smart composite containers.
The collaboration combines the strengths of two complementary players, the two said.
TOUAX will contribute its experience in asset ownership, leasing and fleet management, while AELER will provide the Unit One technology and lead customer programmes, deployment and day-to-day operation of the initial fleet.
As a first step, TOUAX will acquire and own an initial fleet of Unit One containers which will be leased under a long-term contract to AELER to be deployed in selected programmes with cargo owners and logistics partners.
This initial deployment is intended to establish the foundation for a broader fleet expansion and represents a step towards diversifying the container solutions available to the market.
Flexitank shipping is a key target market for the Unit One thanks to it reinforced construction, higher payload, passive insulation, and embedded smart monitoring and security.
It integrates into existing intermodal operations, giving customers greater choice according to their cargo, operational and sustainability requirements.
“The collaboration with TOUAX marks an important step in the commercial deployment of Unit One. We are already seeing Unit One deliver meaningful cost savings, sustainability and operational value in customer programmes.
By combining that proven value with TOUAX’s asset management capabilities, we are creating the foundation to serve growing demand at much greater scale,” said Naïk Londono, co-founder of AELER.
eyond the initial container fleet, TOUAX and AELER intend to establish a scalable model for the progressive deployment of Unit One. The framework under development would enable TOUAX to extend its fleet-management role to both TOUAX and third-party owned Unit One assets, supporting consistent fleet management as deployment grows.
