Fecc join Circular Plastics Alliance

Fecc, the European Association of Chemical Distributors in Brussels, has co-signed the Circular Plastics Alliance declaration, adding their sector to the other more than 160 public and private partners from all parts of the plastics´ value chain and beyond.

The Circular Plastics Alliance promotes voluntary actions for a well-functioning EU market in recycled plastics and commits to reach the target of 10 million tons of recycled plastics by 2025, from currently 4 M. tons. This target was set by the European Commission in its 2018 Plastics Strategy, as part of its efforts to boost plastics recycling in Europe.

Fecc´s President Neville Prior said “The European chemical distribution sector takes sustainability in all its aspects very seriously. We clearly see circularity as business opportunity and strive to use our unique position in the chemical value chain to make it happen.”

The declaration, signed by small and medium businesses, large corporations, business associations, standardisers, research organisations, and local and national authorities endorses the 10 million tons target and calls for a shift to zero plastic waste in nature and zero land-filling.
